Kung Fu: The Way

Sifu Henry Regalado, South Dade Monitor Article

It is an honor to be asked to write a column in The South Dade Monitor not only about martial arts, but also about some of the philosophies and concepts of the martial arts. In the following series of writings I would also like to share some of the highs and lows of having the responsibility of running a successful martial arts school.
In life, you do not wake up in the morning and predict your day. You must adapt to your day. The art of adaptation is Kung-fu, to fight with no preconceived system by taking advantage of your surroundings and the opponent’s weakness and making them your strengths.  These concepts can be applied to any aspect of life such as marriage, work, school, etc.

Kung-fu is over 2,000 years old, and in its simplest definition, it means to have mastered something from begging to end. For instance, here in America we would say that a doctrine is the highest level of education you can achieve.

Now, if you would follow me on this journey you will not only learn how to defend yourself, but you also discover who you really are. Through our lives we slowly develop these imaginary limitations, and because of those invisible boundaries, we never get to know our true selves. “No limitation, is your limitation. You have no limitation” Bruce Lee.

By achieving Kung fu, not only are you eliminating those imaginary boundaries, but you are bettering yourself as a person, and becoming a balanced individual. To further your knowledge in martial arts beyond the scope of this column we would like to hear from you. Contact us here
